Do you give a gift to your cleaning lady this time of year?

Me too. I gave her a box of chocolate with a card and $100. Last year I gave her a nicer gift with less money but figured she'd want the cash.

When I had someone who had been with us for years I gave her a full week's salary. Since I happen to have someone new (maybe 2 months?) I gave her $100. If she's still with me next year I'll probably double it.

I have a cleaning lady who comes one morning a week for a few hours. I pay her a set fee of $70. A couple of weeks before the holiday season I pay her $150 instead and tell her the extra is for the holidays. That way she has the cash in hand to spend as needed.

We also sometimes get a bottle of non kosher wine as a holiday gift from a company we do business with. I always give her first dibs if she's interested. Otherwise we find someone else to give it to.

No, but many people give them their unwanted gifts.

Standard etiquette is to give an extra weeks wages as a holiday bonus, that's what I do. I also give an extra little gift for someone who works with my kids, this year I gave my babysitter a lotion set.
