I have a friend who is ill and would like to get her something. She is not allowed to eat. She is in too much pain to read. She suffers from a chronic condition that flares up sometimes. On previous occasions I have gotten her flowers, a plant, hand cream, a CD of classical music, so none of those. She is not up to receiving visitors and has lots of household help, so visiting or offering to run errands are out too. Any ideas?

Would she enjoy a new cd like Benny Friedman?
It's tricky since she can't eat or read...
What about nice flowers in a vase? I know you got it for her but flowers are always nice.

Some of the ideas here are great. I agree with an at home spa treatment or makeup application, a perfume or an audio CD of a good book that isn't too intense to listen too.
May she have a refuah shelaima!!

These ARE great ideas but mostly not for her. She isn't seeing guests, not even her best friends, so definitely not seeing manicurists. A book on tape is a possibility if I can think of one that is intelligent but not taxing.

Here are some ideas,

Comfy PJs
Those super soft socks/slippers
Adult coloring books/colored pencils
A nice tray so she can eat in bed - bonus include a yummy meal
Movies, magazines and snacks wrapped up nicely

I have a chronic illness and have been in a similar situation and I'd love any of these. You sound like an amazing friend!
