They also had a delicious veggie soup recipe in that mishpacha article. Made it for my kids - was such a big hit. I would love to make it again but I lost the clipping. (Need to figure out a system for organizing these magazine clipped recipes).
Anyone have that by any chance?

The recipe listed above with 14 eggs seems to be too large a volume for a 9 by 13 baking pan. Please check.

A binder with plastic page protectors. you could staple the top closed so it wont slip out if you drop it.
Now and then, type up all your collected recipes.

I looked through last weeks magazine, no sponge cake recipe. Was dated April 27th. Is that the one your referring to?

14 eggs separated
2 1/2 cups sugar

2 vanilla sugar
3 cup flour
2 tspn baking powder
Directions: beat egg whites until forms Peaks then add rest of the ingredients Flour last for the better into a 9x13 baking pan leave one cup in mixer.
Dilute the following in a1/4 cup hot water:
3 tbsp cocoa
1 tbsp coffee
1/2 cup sugar
Add to remaining batter, mix and pour ziggzaggy over batter already in baking pan. Marble slightly with fork
Bake in 350 f for hour and 15 min |
Is this correct? Seems too big of a batter for one 9x13.
Also do you incorporate the rest of the batter into the stiff egg whites or mix other ingredients and gently incorporate the egg whites?

That recipe is 1 1/2 times the size of a 9x13 recipe. So use an 11x14 or something of the sort (or pour 2/3 the batter into a 9x13 and 1/3 into a 9" round pan).

Check kosher.com for the Mishpacha recipes. They said they're putting in all the recipes, but I'm not sure if they really meant all or just the popular ones. And the ones in the articles vs. the regular column.

I made the one from the voice of Lakewood today and it was really good.
This is the recipe:
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Baking powder
Combine dry ingredients in separate bowl.
Add in bowl with whisk attachment:
6 large eggs( room temperature)
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 T vanilla extract
1 cup oil
Beat eggs, sugar and vanilla at medium speed. Increase speed to high and continue beating until mixture tripled in size and is light, fluffy and lemon colored. Slowly add in oil ( if u do all at once it will not incorporate properly into batter)
Turn off mixer. Add flour mixture, stir in lowest speed until just combined.
Bake for 40 minutes in 9*13 pan.
For marble:
Heat 8 oz. Bittersweet chocolate, 1/4 c. Cocoa, 1/4 c. Sugar and 1c. Water in a microwave bowl. Whisk until smooth. Grease and flour 2 loaf pans and line with foil so that foil covers all the way up the sides too and over rim of pan. This is crucial in getting loaves out of the pan in one piece. Pour half of chocolate mixture into each pan it will sink to the bottom. Swirl to marbelize. Bake for an hour.

Can I make the marble cake in a 9x13 too?

Just realized I wasn't clear with the instructions for the marble cake.
After putting in the chocolate mixture into pan u put the regular batter on top and then marbelize. Enjoy!
