I feel so awkward whenever I give a greeting kiss, or mazel tov kiss to anyone. I feel especially awkward when it comes to kissing my mother in law. I never know if I am kissing her at the right time. Sometimes I do kiss her, and sometimes I don't, and then it feels even more awkward. Can someone please tell me what is the right thing to do. I am totally having anxiety over this.
Do I kiss my mother in law when I meet her at a mutual friends simcha?
Do I kiss the bal simchas sisters, or friends?
Do I kiss my mother in law every time I leave her house?
If I do kiss my mother in law, or grandmother when I meet them lets say at a simcha. Do I kiss them again when I say goodbye?
When I do kiss, do I extend my hand, or give a hug? Do I kiss on the cheek, or do I air kiss?
Or could I get away with never kissing anyone, besides for my DH and mother? (with my mother I don't have this problem. It is mainly with my mother in law.)

She never does anything. She basically wants to follow my lead. I guess as not to pressure me. But anyways, I am the younger one, so I should be the one to greet her, no?

I am terrible at this too. Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

I learned that the Israelis I know shake hands and kiss, usually the air over the shoulder. If they are especially pleased to see the person, it's the air on both sides. Occasionally they brush cheeks, or even kiss the cheek.

If she's following your lead, do what you feel comfortable with.
