I refuse to spend 100 dollas for an almost 4 year old, however, I do have some specific criteria. I don't want a slip on, or a shoe with elastic across. I need a reguar buckle or velcro strap. No white, cream, or light pink, , not clunky looking either. Summer colors such as coral, mint, etc are perfect. I've looked on next, zara, nordstrom, amazon, macys and zappos. I don't like children's place, gap, old navy, etc, doesn't last. I need a size 26 or 27. Help!!

We've always done well at Payless. You can look online but they have more options in store. My girls (who can be quite hard on shoes) generally make it through a full season in Payless shoes (unless they grow out of them) and if they don't for whatever reason, it doesn't really bother me to buy a second pair because they are so inexpensive.

Agree with Payless, although I no longer have a young child so I'm not familiar with their current products. I found they held up much better than Stride Rite, with the same fit, at a fraction of the cost. Since dressy shoes are not worn every day, I don't mind that they are not leather.

Did you check Amazon? Sometimes I find what I need there.
I don't worry too much about it "lasting" because they only wear them once a week and we don't do that many rough activities on Shabbos anyway. If they last from Pesach to Shavuos that's fine, after that worst case scenario if they bust their Shabbos shoes they can wear their regular shoes all week until fall. (anyway they'll soon switch to sandals/sneakers so they can wear the previous school shoes for an "upgrade" on Shabbos)

what do you think? |
I ordered (and returned) these. The elastic is not adjustable and they're not narrow at all.
