Just because I'm your close family member, don't ask me to notarize your co-worker's signature without them being present.
Don't try to pressure me by saying there's a deadline and the co-worker has no time to come in person.
Don't put me on the spot and make me feel like the mean one for saying no.

You did the right thing. I watched a guy argue with the notary in my office when he provided his fathers photo ID instead of his own and she said she couldn't notarize with someone else's ID and he thought she was just trying to be "difficult".
