depending on the age of your kids and adult/child ratio another cheap trip for someone from oot is a ride on the train (haven't been on one in a while so can't vouch for the appropriateness of the ads). Take the F to Coney Island and then switch sides to take it back. you'll pass a train parking lot and see coney island amusement park, lot of buildings (obviously)
