Only 5 cups of flour? No wonder mine starts jumping across the counter when I try to make challah, lol! I have been doing it by hand for years now and hardly touching my mixer. Maybe I should look into a Bosch. What is the max capacity (cups of flour) for that machine?

I have a Kitchen Aid which is great as a mixer, but I think I'm going to save my pennies for a Magic Mill for Challah rather than upgrade on the Kitchen Aid.

Who says a Magic Mill is junk? I've never heard anyone say that and they've had them for many years....

The reg. kitchenaid can definitely take 8 cups of flour, which is about 2 1/2 pounds (I sometimes put 9-10 cups)

I don't know about the other brands being discussed, but I just want to say that I've had my Kitchen Aid (regular, non-pro) for over 30 years. My mom had it first, and gave hers to me when she needed a 220 one for Israel. This thing is still going strong, the workhorse. I love it. When it finally goes, I will immediately buy another Kitchen Aid, not that it shows any signs of fading.

My mother had her first Kitchen Aid for nearly 40 years and is now on the second, which I hope she will use for another 40 years. She regularly makes challah from 5 lbs in one go and hasn't had a problem with it.

FYI the white color is even $30 cheaper now, for $219.99. We called up and they credited us for it.

And it says on the box it can take up to 14 cups of flour, not 5!
