I am looking to purchase a noise machine for my son so as to block out background noise when he's asleep. after we put him to bed for the night, he will wake up from hearing us talking or the phone ringing, even when his door is closed. I have tried to train him to sleep through moderate noise, but you know what: its just not happening! anyhow, I want a good machine, that will really block out the background noises well.
does anyone have any recommendations?
thanks very much.
(ps he is 20 months K"AH)

you can also look for white noise on cds and set the machine up to play it over and over.

I think white noise machines are cheap, though. ours, on kingston, wasn't even $20.

we have a conair. we bought it 7 1/2 years ago.

we got it because I couldn't sleep with all the noise in the city. now, even when we go to monsey, etc we take it along cuz it's too quiet (go figure). in other words, I'm addicted to it and can't sleep without it. be aware that that might happen to your kid.

Ditto the fan.
I've been sleeping with one for over a decade. I need a white noise to block out other noises and get to sleep and this is what works for me.

we bought a great one on amazon with rave reviews for about 20-25. we love it. it blocks out just enough to help my daughter sleep, but not so much that she doesn't know what external noise is.

and we use a fan in the our room. we point it straight up (rotates).
