For those of you who use short grained brown rice:
Do your just add the rice or does it need to be washed before?

never heard of buckwheat in cholent or as a dish in general.
is it healthier than rice? barley?
whats the taste like in the cholent in comparison to barley?
I like the idea as its not a grain and as for rice has alot less phytic acid in it.
no bashing please.

I have been using a bit of flour to thicken my chulent past few weeks. Make a Roux with a bit of oil before adding all the ingredients. I also put homemade kishka unwrapped that helps it thicken as well and gives it a delicious flavor.

no bashing please. | rice has less phytic acid than beans and probably also barley. Also you can soak rice in warm water and an acid overnight to remove some of the phytate.
