Two of my kids are using atropine eyedrops prescribed by their ophthalmologist. recently, I was notified by the compounding pharmacy that insurance does not cover it anymore. Anyone experience the same thing?

I need to be shelling out $60 per child per month for eye drops? Maybe it's not a lot according to how much other drugs cost, but this is experimental as far as I know.

Can you ask the dr. to prescribe a generic which should be cheaper?

A lot of prescriptions offer coupon cards or discounts. It takes one of my meds from $50 a month to $5. You can try Google or ask your opthomologist. If that’s not offered, call around to different pharmacies bcaue prices really vary.

Call insurance yourself to confirm. Sometimes the pharmacy is wrong.

Where are you located?
I have 5 atropine 0.01 solution to give away.
My daughter stopped using it and the pharmacy kept delivering it every month.

It's not experimental, there is a lot of research out there showing how effective it is. That said, many drugs, even if no longer considered experimental, are not fda approved for the use they're being prescribed for. My insurance doesn't cover but if you search for previous threads on this topic there were those who said their insurances did, in fact, cover the cost.
Not only do I pay for the eye drops out of pocket, but overnight shipping is expensive. Can anyone recommend a compounding pharmacy that will ship out of state where the drops don't have to be refrigerated?

Where you located? I would take them also if the first person didn’t want them. I’m paying out of pocket for it and it’s adding up,,

Maybe check your spam?

I noticed that each bottle has a discard by date that passed already.
Don’t know if you still want them.

I still didn't get anything. In either case, I guess if they are expired, I won't take them

Do you mind editing out my email address in the post where you replied to it? Thanks.
