My toddler has been waking up at 5:30 am on the dot for the past few days. Until now he’s been sleeping until 7am. He falls asleep between 7-8 every night. I can’t think of anything that has changed that could have triggered this but I’m hoping it’s not permanent 😳 he has blackout shades in his room so it’s not because it’s getting light outside earlier. Help!!

Maybe he is napping longer at school
Maybe he’s coming down with a cold and has a stuffy nose or is getting hot and that’s waking him up
Maybe he’s drinking more during the day, since it’s hot, and his diaper is fuller
Just random thoughts

How old is he? Could it be time to start shortening his nap?

If my toddler wakes up early, I tell her it's still nighttime and tuck her back in.

But he can see that it’s light outside already

Get room darkening shades so the sunlight does not come in. Works wonders on toddlers.

My three year old has blackout shades in his room but there’s a bit of light that gets in around the cracks, he also started waking up before 6 within the last week, he points to the shades and says “Look, it’s morning!”
I’m looking into a clock for his room as we speak lol

Sometimes they go to sleep when it's light out, as well. Just repeat that it's still time to sleep. You can offer books or a toy in bed, if you're desperate. But we don't get out of bed before x time. If we do, it messes up the whole day.
