Is farfel the same thing as ptitim?

It’s not exactly the same but it’s very similar. The ptitim I’ve seen are little round balls and farfel is uneven sort of jagged looking shapes. The way you cook them is similar in that you toast them first in hot oil and then cook them and let let them absorb all the cooking liquid, as opposed to other types of pasta that you cook in a lot of water and then drain the water. They’re both often served as sides with proteins or vegetables cooked in a sauce because they’re good at absorbing all the flavors from the sauce.

I don’t make my own farfel but I do make my own salt water for Pesach. Call me crazy! 🙈

Are you going to do just everything? Boundaries, my friend. You’re overworking. Your husband should be making the salt water, after he comes home from work on erev Pesach. You need to learn to speak up for yourself-and to put yourself first.
BC, self-care and therapy for you both, in that order.
If your husband won’t accept therapy, then do it for yourself.

No I can’t put that stress on him! It’s such an important thing for me to do on my own. And as I’m toiling away mixing the salt water my eyes are tearing up from the immense load I have taken on and my tears fall into the salt water and add that extra umph that it needs to be just right!

2 cups flour
2 eggs
½ tsp salt
2 Tablespoons water

Knead until smooth. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes. Form a rope and flour it. Let it dry uncovered for 1-2 hours. Grate and then flour the pieces. Dry on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Boil.

I never thought it's crazy - but OK count me in the club
You're really doing hard work. I take the easy way out, no grating.
I remember my mother doing that though.
