Can you just take him to the bathroom and straight back to bed? No toys (can these be moved so they're not out on the way?) We periodically go through phases where kids are popping out of bed/saying that they can't sleep and we try to just be firm and all business- it's time to rest your body, use the potty/get drink, get right back in bed. Don't make it fun and take away the possibility of staying downstairs and playing. When we stick to that expectation it only lasts a few days.

A child who is toilet trained should not be in a crib, precisely for this reason. They need to be able to get out of bed to go to the bathroom. It is wrong to put a child that is fully trained in a diaper.
Does your crib convert to a toddler bed?
I converted my crib to a toddler bed when I toilet trained.
