Hi, I am trying to figure out what is the normal range for renting/ buying a play script to be used in a high school play.
How much did you pay for an original script?
What about a script that was already performed previous years (ie not custom written for your school)?
Did it include songs? If not, how much did you pay for songs?
I really appreciate everyone’s experience here!

It really depends who wrote the script, how much experience they have, how long ago they wrote the script, etc.
I've sold scripts for $500, and I'm writing an original script now for $2,000. I've heard of people selling scripts for 3-4K, but I think that's rare.

Depends if it includes songs or not. My scripts with songs go for 3K. Scripts without songs are less.

Thank you, that is helpful. Does it make a difference how many times the play was performed? Does it get “cheaper” with more exposure?

I can't speak for everyone, but I do charge less for older scripts.
