Unless the child has physical issues, I don't think it is necessary. I don't trust all the store fitters because I see what shoes theyre selling and they are terrible for new walkers. I saw someone buy a shoe with a sole so stiff it cannot bend at all, let alone in half. That's a bad idea for a new walker (or any child) according to physical therapists. If a kid has issues, like low tone etc, fitting matters. My sister had a great experience at teschers in lkwd.

I was waiting for someone to say this! I had a much better experience at Sole Connection that some of the other stores mentioned on this thread.

Always wondered about this.
And I once read that good shoes help kids walk well, just as much as a good hat helps them think well!
My kids walked and ran just as well barefoot and when they accidentally took their sibling’s shoes, or the pair that was too small/big because they couldn’t find their shoes!
