My five year old will only wear soft, flexible pants. No chinos, no jeans, nothing with any stiffness at all. Target used to have these great knit pants that fit him great, but I don’t see any in his size. He’s small, wears about a 5T. Don’t want anything too tight, but I found that some of his other brands of pants are really loose and look horrible. We do budget shopping and I’m not looking to spend very much. Target used to be about $8 each.

I’d say the kidichic soft pants or three bows. But neither are super cheap - they have sales today so check.

Target sells girls midrise soft knit jeggings in big kid sizes. I buy them online for my 5 1/2 yr old son in size xs
They're very soft

These children’s place pants are amazing! The color doesn’t fade and they’re super comfortable! You could get them for really cheap with coupons! My 5 year old has been wearing them for the past three years.

I get the target jeggings for my 3yo they should be comparable & yes, while I love them for a 3yo I think next year we'll graduate to something more appropriate. I can't see an average 5yo in them, maybe a super thin very short one.

The children's place ones come in skinny and regular if you don't like them so fitted just get the regular fit.
My 6 and 7 year old boys wear them and they look like regular pants on them.
