The only defense I can think of is that the therapist said it half as a joke, and your kid didn't catch that? Like, "don't tell your parents, but when I was a kid, I also misbehaved at school."
I agree with those saying this is concerning, though. A younger brother of mine was seeing a therapist who ended up being found to have zexually abused some boys. My brother once told me something he asked (after he was already gone, and we were talking about whether he was ever inappropriate with him) which was highly inappropriate and clearly grooming. We can't really know what category this therapist falls into.
