I’ve never bought formula before, but want to have something in the house for my newborn.
For CY my local supermarket has similac and Materna. Is materna lighter than similac?
What the difference between the blue materna and I guess the regular one?

Materna's definitely lighter than Similac. Check the can for the recommended age.

Seems like there’s a materna with a light blue top that says extra care. What does that mean?

For materna, you can start with regular. Extra care is more expensive and if your baby is fine with the regular than that will be cheaper and possibly more accessible (in Israel there has been a materna shortage). I've tried materna, extra care, and similac for my infant based on what's been available and she's been fine with all of them. Formula is one of those things you may need to try to see what works best (and the first one you try might be fine!)

Idk where you live but in lakewood the materna blue cover is the same price as regular. The only difference is that it promotes softer stools and easier digestion because is has probiotics in it. Gourmet glatt has it for 32 dollars .
