I want to purchase a used down coat for my kid on ebay. so I will need to wash it before using.
will a down coat stay as warm after washing? does it lose its quality or warmth when washed?

No but u need to dry it on air fluff with a few dryer balls to get it fluffed up again

you could put it in the freezser instead of washing it. or you could take it to the cleaners or wash at a laundromat

If it's a good quality coat like the north face you could wash it and then put straight away in the dryer with tennis balls. Stay around while you do it and take it out every so often to re-distribute the down.
If its from Ali I would probably only dry clean
