Thanks! I will discuss with DH, and see if that's of interest to him. Where can you find such jobs locally? (Brooklyn, NY)

These usually require longer training.

He can do retail arbitrage ebay to amazon and never leave the house (schedule pickups) or he could go out with his assistant once a week with a scanner. There's a learning curve but you don't need a lot of computer skills other than learning a few softwares and he could make his own schedule and work mostly at home.
Start with a free course. Bookselling is the only course currently available but it's an easy way to start FBA. http://starthumble.com |
Please excuse my ignorance, but is this the same as an Amazon seller? Or a separate role, being the middleman arranging for the shipping?

Handyman - people need someone willing to do small jobs, not major construction. He should charge $50 an hour and could do well |
O one will come down for 50 anymore. Easily minimum 150+

What about a mashgiach?
Those jobs are always in demand and are more hands on then computer skills, and the salary is decent ( I think starting salaries are in the 75k range, there is room for growth, and there is usually a nice benefits package)

How about a locksmith? Not strenuous on the body but would utilise his handyman skills.

He tried that but the pay was hourly (and minimum pay), and once or twice they place didn't end up paying him at all! (He walked all the way there in the snow too when they couldn't get anyone else to come). I was truly enraged. How does one look for a full time position in kashrus?

The man who did my home inspection and most others where I live had a long career in HVAC and once he got older and it was too hard for him, he switched to doing inspections.
For actually writing the report you can probably find a part time person to help him if he can get enough business.

Do you have Home Depot or Ace Hardware near you? Can he lift somewhat heavy things within reason?
Ace and Home Depot at least in my area are not opposed to hiring out of the box types and with your husbands personality, sounds like he could be a good fit.

What about Medicare consultant/advisor? I saw someone discuss it once on the kosher money podcast. I don’t know the training or the initial money, but over time it seems like you can do well.

The big agency's often have full time, salaried positions with benefits - so OU, Start K ect. You can apply on the websites....
Its the smaller agencies that take advantage...
