If I buy a new pair of tzitzis for my son turning 3, and the strings are literally to the floor, can I just cut them before he wears them? Any rules about how long to leave them?

You can also use a sharp piece of glass to cut them. Just not metal. Make sure to dip ends in clear nail polish after so they don't unravel.

Can’t cut with metal
You can cut with ceramic scissors or the ideal is actually to burn them off but I don’t know how that works
