My 4 year old has been coughing for 2 and a half weeks now with no other symptoms. She is not coughing at night, and I noticed she coughs a lot when in public like at a store. She also does it more around my husband than me. He will remind her to cover her mouth or cough into her elbow, I just ignore it. She also is not coughing at night. I suspected she was perhaps fake coughing or doing it for attention, but her morah mentioned today that she has been coughing a lot at school, and maybe we should get it checked out.

Has this ever happened to anyone? I'm a little nervous.

It sounds like a lot of kids with winter coughs
If your nervous go to the pediatrician but it doesn’t sound crazy

Yeah it happened to my 4 year old too. Then it went away after a while. There’s a lot of viruses going around specifically now and specifically with respiratory symptoms. Your dr will be able to tell you if she needs a chest x ray or it’s just viral related.

Sounds typical of coughs toddlers get. Why are you so worried? It doesn't sound concerning at all. Coughs can last up to 3 months

My 10 year had a hefty cough for 2 months but not at night.
The Dr decided to try allergy meds. It's now q weeks later and it's almost gone.
