Any ideas of something I can make in my crockpot instead of cholent for shabbos day when it’s just my husband and me? We find overnight pastrami/corned beef always overcooks. Looking for something else to try! Please post recipes if you can.

Hi. You can do meatballs, you can do a roast, you can do many chicken recipes as well. I’m sorry I can’t write out recipes now since it’s almost Shobbos here. I hope you both enjoy whatever you decide. Have a beautiful and delicious Shobbos

It all over-cooks.

We find that overnight we can make:
Cholent
Short grain brown rice and meat (no other rice holds up)
Yapsuk
Pastrami only if it's raw and still left in the vacuum sealed bag - with bag submerged in a crockpot full of cold water and turned on low at the start of shabbos (delicious if served right away on a board- but don't expect nice slices or for leftovers to go over well)

No matter what you try, avoid sauces especially honey and BBQ sauce, as they give anything you try overnight an over-cooked burnt taste.

You can try putting up the pastrami/corned beef closer to shabbos or partially frozen so it doesn't overcook
Not many food are good in the crockpot for so many hours

Turkey neck soup
Put turkey necks and vegetables into the crock pot. Potato, sweet potato, celery, carrots. Cover with water. Season with what spices you like, or onion soup mix if you like that.
Cook on low from candle lighting til lunch.
