Someone posted the following in that thread.

Why does vacation equal those places? We’ve explored so many different areas of the US and had a great time.

Can you (or anyone) please give me some great ideas? We are in NY and are looking to get away for about a week in the summer, maybe a little more. We don’t want to go to any of the places mentioned in that thread- Arizona, Miami, Cancun, L.A…..my daughter has requested “somewhere south” so I’m thinking maybe someplace on the Virginia coast? Or maybe the Carolinas?

Personally I think Oregon/Washington is highly underrated and a great destination for a summer getaway. If you want to go south, Virginia has Shenandoah plus lots of history, WV has great white-water rafting, Atlanta has family-friendly activities plus kosher restaurants, and Tennessee has the Smokies plus tons of touristy stuff right outside in Pigeon Forge and Gatlingburg.

We have done some fun road trips in the past and we want to cover all the states in the continental united states eventually. However I hate when people say why do all Jewish people only vacation at xyz. The reason is very simple, as jews it's harder for us to go to remote place because of logistics for example kosher food and minyan for people that are makpid. Obviously a nice place with lots of kosher food available and shuls or chabad nearby will be more attractive to many people than some remote place in New Mexico or Ohio where these things are hard to come by even if there are some nice things to see or some fun things to do in that area
