They actually switched from borosilicate while the uppercase logo was still in use. Regardless, pyrex no longer produces borosilicate products. If that is what you're looking for, better to specify that you want borosilicate than pyrex or PYREX. |
why do they make lower case and uppercase?

Not exactly, but these measurements are close enough. When you measure by the cup, a few mL more or less make zero difference. |
are these not uk measurements?

This was pretty informative. She goes through the history and tests all the theories.

started listening to beginning.
seems that PYREX that says made in france from borosilicate glass is real PYREX
and the ones made I USA from soda tempered glass is pyrex.
so I have to see what says on the label.

Interesting.
I've made kugel in pyrex bowls. But I'm not sure if they are PYREX or pyrex. They still were intact when I put them into storage recently. Maybe if I'll get to go down there I'll check. Lol. It's possible.
But for a measuring cup, are you planning to bake or at 500 like your do kugel?

You need to listen to the entire thing because she comes to the exact opposite conclusion.

previous poster said its a myth - upper case and lowercase are made of soda lime glass.
but I think if on the package it says made in france from brosilicate glass its the original.

Yes, if brosilicate glass is on the label then seemingly that's trustworthy.
I thought the oil test they do at the end was really cool...

Are you looking at the liquid in the cup at eye level?
