We had a bar mitzvah for our son last Friday night and my husband graciously dealt with the leftovers. We had a double tray of chicken cutlets in sauce with vegetables (Chinese chicken) that was leftover and apparently he put the whole thing in the freezer.
I'm so annoyed because as far as I know you can't refreeze cooked chicken. Now what? Do I take it out from the freezer and throw it out? What should be have done with it?
He also refroze matza balls

He did the right thing. Chicken in sauce should be good. It’s not as good as fresh but still good .
Matzah balls can be frozen no problem .
Enjoy the leftovers . I froze all the chicken from my DS ‘s Bar Mitzvah and we got many suppers out of it

It’s totally fine to refreeze cooked chicken. It’s not safe to thaw frozen chicken and then freeze it again uncooked.

Was it defrosted? It's fine to freeze cooked chicken. I wouldn't refreeze, but I would freeze.

What’s the problem? How is this different than any cooked food that you freeze?

There were other leftovers that he put away in the same way I would (I have no question about their reusability) these 2 things I was unsure.
Chicken was cutlets that were frozen. Defrosted cooked in the sauce, heated for the meal, and then he put it back in the freezer.
Matza balls were cooked, frozen, defrosted/heated up, and then he put the back in the freezer.
If the chicken can yes be used- I'm assuming it needs to be used in one go right?

The chicken can still be used.
Just take out the freezer how much you want to use at a time .
