I think you get slightly more light from 6" spots than 4" spots.

But everyone is using only 4" spots these days.

Are there exceptions for very large double height ceiling rooms, where you want more light?

Maybe put the 4", but put in more spots?

Smaller spots are more in style now. I would put in more spots to make up for less light.
