Get it immediately after birth. I had mine put in then with my epidural still going and I didn't feel a thing. Best decision ever.

This is an option but there's a much higher risk of the IUD coming out of place. Also, some people like to get to mikvah before getting the IUD in case there's prolonged staining.

No no no.
Not at all.

I took painkillers before and I lay there waiting for the pain and the cranping and there was none!

Ask to get numbed.
Call the office to make sure that they have the medication. Remind the nurse when you check on

I was scared to do it. I regret not doing it earlier. My periods used to be awful and now they are non existing. A 3 second pinch and pressure was worth it.

Insertion was excruciating, then I had horrible cramping that got increasingly worse. By the next day I was taken to the ER because the pain was not normal. The IUD had moved and punctured my uterus. Had to have laparoscopic surgery.
Before you all ask, it was properly placed with a sonogram, I saw it with my own eyes. For some reason it shifted.
10 years later and I'm desperate for an IUD long term now but I'm terrified.

I was nervous about the insertion but felt nothing. The speculum was the worst part.
Calm down and stop freaking yourself out with horror stories.

I was waiting for the pain to start and then she was like okay you’re all done. Was no different for me than any other internal exam with a speculum.

Personally I had a hard time with it because my cervix is very recessed (even during a regular exam) and I have had childhood trauma. I made her stop, and then insisted on general anesthesia at the hospital.

I had abnormal, crazy pain while the doctor was inserting the speculum .
I was nearly passing out. The doctor then realised that the cause was the speculum itself.
It turned out that I needed the smallest size speculum.

I hardly felt anything, not a minute had passed and she said she was done, I was like oh you've done it already?! (All 3 times)

Not at all. It was uncomfortable while she inserted it and that was it.
Never felt it was there afterwards.
