My diamond ring is really dirty, how do I get the dirt out of the dents...?

I was told to soap it up with a toothbrush and leave it for half an hour, then rinse. Alcohol does something, but I don't know if it's damaging. You could also bring it to the jewelry store - here in Israel I'm offered free cleanings; they just want me to give them some time to get the machine going.

A Jeweler told my mother to soak her ring in hot water, dish soap and ammonia then use a toothbrush to clean it. My ring looks great when I clean it this way.

I stand corrected for all of you who read my post about how ammonias bad for the ring. It was chlorine and other chemicals people may use that are harmful. My husband corrected me. He says 1 part ammonia to 10 parts hot water and dishsoap. Let it soak, and then use a toothbrush under running water.

Buy Efferdent - denture cleaning tablets & put one in warm water with the rings & leave overnight. Rinse off in the morning. It works fantastically!!
