My wonderful and amazing mother-in-law just told me about this new found discovery of hers... (and let me post it here as long as I gave her that intro LOL)
She puts her dough in the dishwasher to rise!!!
She puts the dough in the bread machine - half way through the dough making cycle she turns on the dishwasher. When the dough is mixed she turns off the d/w and drains it (I would just put mine on a short rinse cycle since I dont have an option to drain mine)
She braids her challah and places them on a sheet and covers with a dishtowel. Place them on the top rack and closes the d/w.
Leave them there for 1/2 hour then bake.
They rise beautifully and are light and fluffy

That's be good for wintertime, in a cold kitchen.
Now, if she can find a way to cook gefilte fish in there, I'd be her best friend !!!
