I recently flew domestic in the US. I know tsa randomly checks baggage and dump a little note in ur luggage that it has been opened and screened and cleared by TSA. In one of my suitcases I had a real fragile, expensive appliance and I packed it tightly with my clothing so it doesn't break. When I got home I found my entire suitcase messed up and the bottom part of it and handles are broken off. Think I can make a claim, or not bother cuz I wont get anywhere?

Sure you could make a claim, it should be done with the airlines though.
Though you should knowa few things the more you ask for the more they will give, but they will never give you everything. And if you coward when they say no you wont get anything either. Speak up for your rights- this is from someone that deals with them at least 100 times a day
