Here's a good one. It's from the Baalabusta's choice cookbook. It's pretty rich but yummy.

1med. egg challa
5 eggs
1pk. vanilla pudding mix
2 vanilla sugar
1/4 cup non dairy creamer
3/4 cup oil
3/4 cup sugar

cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top(optional)

Soak the challah, sqeeze out all the water.

While challa's soaking, mix together all the other ingredients. Add soaked and squeezed challah to the mixture, pour into 9x13 pan bake at 350 for about an hour.

My mom used to make it a lot. But lately there were too many arguments about the brocha. so she does not make it anymore.

I made the one in the Spice and Spirit cookbook a while ago. Came out good, too tired to post the recipe. Anyone else have it?

I got a question - what exactly does "soak & drain the challah" mean? Embarassed I'd love to make this kugel - anyone, please?!

soak the challah in juice (or whatever liquid you are using) and then drain it if there is any liquid left, altough, the way that I make it, there is almost no liquid left and whatever liquid is left, I just leave, but either way works! good luck with the kugel, it is YUMMY!

question for you cindy324, how much challah is in your recipe? Is it a medium size challah? or is it less than one challah? (or more?)

oops, I see you wrote 1 egg challah. so is that medium then? (actually I think you wrote that too). so is an egg challah just a regular challah as opposed to a water challah?

One medium egg challah, NOT water(not sweet enough and too crusty)

Soak and drain mean , soak in water, then squeeze out as much as you can, at least that's what I do.

Thanx guys, I'll try it!
I'm one of those people who need specific instructions when following recipes. I get confused with "a bit of this and that". When my mother gave me her challah recipe (which is great BTW - ask timeout!) it was like pulling teeth. I had to force her to enumerate exactly what "a little" meant & translate that into teaspoons...

That's OK buba, I used to be like that too! Then I got too lazy to take out the measuring spoon, now I'm one of those "a little bit of this and a little bit of that" people. It really does not make or break a recipe.

Thanks cindy324 and Bracha V'hatzlacha. One day I too will get there and actually MAKE a challah kugel sooner rather than later, instead of reading recipes. You make it sound like it's no big deal. Smile

Really dumb question... do you cut the challa into cubes? Slices? Leave it whole?
