my 2 year old has a really bad smell since friday

I keep showering him and it barely helps.
his babysitter won't even take him as he smells and she said it's hard to be around him.

I went to the dr and she ordered blood test and I'm waiting the results -
has anyone had this? and what can I do about the smell?
(anyone who sees us will forsure think that I just don't shower him)

Does it smell like sweat, or something different?

Could be some sort of metabolic disorder.

It started suddenly... some sort of intestinal parasite?

Ask the doctor to check up his nose (I heard of a kids who stuffed something UK his nose it got stuck ans smelled until they took it out)

it did start suddenly

I don't think it's something up his nose - I think it's coming more when he sweats

check ALL body orifices. might also be a decayed tooth but less likely.

Consider seeing a metabolic specialist. Did the pediatrician also ask you to collect urine?

Finally solved! and thanks to imamohter and google and NOT the dr's.

my dr did all the tests and everything came out fine b'h.

I told my dh what I read here of something up the nose and from googling.
he looked up my sons nose and found far up a sponge like material that was causing the smell.

b'h this is sorted and we pulled it out.

dr's should know already to check up the nose.

Baruch HaShem you solved the mystery!

Great job!

I'm surprised your son didn't complain if something was stuck up his nose.

he wasn't complaining and acting fine - he just had this terrible smell that he couldn't go to his mishpachton for a few days as she wouldn't take him.

I know I had this a number of years ago when dd was sick with high fever for 4 days and the dr's couldn't find anything wrong. then she finally vomited and a rock came out of her nose.
I'm just suprised the dr's don't know to check the nose in these cases

In my experience, a lot of doctors don't touch or examine patients anymore, except as a last resort.

They prefer to rely on tests.

one of my little brothers had the same smell issue, and it was actually the doctor who found a taffy wrapper shoved up his nose, so I guess not all doctors are incompetent LOL
