I'm looking for the ballpark amount of how much someone would charge for a teenage boarder. The situation would consist of room and board Monday through Friday. What sort of cost am I looking at? It's very difficult to find a number because not too many people in Brooklyn do it anymore...
Can anyone help?

I was a boarder 10 years ago and the going rate then was $400 a month. I imagine it's more now.

In OOT the going rate is somewhere between $350-500 depending on accomodations , if own room/ bathroom, etc.. I have no idea about Brooklyn.

I understand this topic may be LONG out of date if you needed it for this school year, but as a boarder about 10-12 years ago my parents were paying $400-450/month. I only had my own bathroom in one place (switched schools) because they had no kids at home. In another place I shared a room with their kid several years younger...

just out of curiosity (we're never planning on doing it)..... is it a schedule E situation as if you're a landlord? How does it work legality wise and tax wise? Just curious.
