Hi we got a beautiful velvet and silver challah cover from donating to Oorah and it has gotten food stains on it. How do I clean the velvet without damaging the silver? along the same lines, how do you clean velvet yarmulkes?

I got desperate once where I just wanted it clean so I was willing to risk ruining it and washed it on gentle cold water in the washing machine inside a mesh bag. I hung it to dry. It came out great. Don't know if it just the one I have or would apply to any.

I put yamulkahs in a lingerie bag. wash it on cold and hang to dry.
challah covers go in a plastic cover/case. when it gets dirty just replace the plastic.
maybe dryclean your challah cover.

Dry clean and then get a plastic case. You can polish the silver with disposable silver clothes.

Never had success with the yarmulkas, they always get ruined.
