My mother a"h, used to call them 'pompushkas'. I know that it was made with matza meal and eggs. Does anyone have any idea what proportions to use? I haven't been able to find a recipe. Thanks so much!

You can use your kneidel recipe, add some sugar and fry them like pancakes.

This is our family's recipe for what we always called matza latkes:
Matza Latkes
1 c. matza meal
1 c. milk plus more to thin mixture as needed
4 eggs
ΒΌ cup sugar
Mix all ingredients. Let set for a few minutes to thicken. Add more milk as needed to thin mixture to make it batter consistency. Fry as pancakes by dropping in hot oil. Serve with jelly or sugar.

Thanks r_a mom! That's the closest I've ever gotten to a recipe. I tried looking up previous posts, but never thought to look for chremslach. Its not a name I'm used to. You really are a REALLY AWESOME MOM!

My grandmother used to make chremslach too. Nothing fancy though - I don't remember the apple and nuts in her version. Then again, she was a minimalist when it came to cooking...
DH remembers his mother putting sweet wine in her chremslach.
In any version that you make I think a little cinammon would be good too, sprinkled on top with the sugar.
