Looking for a different appitizer for succos. No fish or deli roll. Is it bad if j just serve salads? I have such a large meal I don't want my company filling up on my app and then not eating my food

If I was your guest I would be thrilled if you served salad! All those meals full of heavy, calorie laden food... The last thing I need is an appetizer of some sort of potato/pastry dough/sugar or fried variety. Give me a salad and I will be thrilled! If you want to dress it up, add a small amount of protein (chicken or London broil) on top- but it's soooo not necessary.

Salad is totally fine. Anything visually appealing (ie: colorful) would be perfect. Personally, I'd love to have something nice and light at first, especially if the rest of the meal is going to be heavier. Go for it!

Salad is great! You can serve it in an interesting edible dish or just serve as is.
Or another all vegetable dish like bruschetta zucchini.

I agree that it's totally fine. That said I like to have one course in the beginning so I have time to warm my main course.

Sure! I'm serving a grilled shnitzel salad and hoping it'll go over very well.

I think salads are enough since you're having a big seudah, but just in case you're still looking for more appetizer options, I'll be making chicken/rice borekas w/mushroom sauce.

salads are totaly fine as an app. People serve way too much food over yom tov. It happens all the time that people get too full before the main course is served. salad would be great.
