Hi! I am a special ed teacher considering looking for a new job for Sep 2017. Does anyone have any experience teaching in a Bi-Y program, particularly the one in Williamsburg? What credentials do the teachers need to have? Do they receive on-the-job or before the job training? How satisfied are the teachers with the work environment? What are the daily hours (including meetings)? How much preparation, speaking with parents, and paperwork must be done outside of school hours?

AFAIK it's the same training as any other public school teacher, plus the bilingual certification. Same hours, paperwork, preparation expectations, etc. Last I heard it was very competitive to get those jobs, but that was a while ago, no idea what the scene is like now. It always helps to know the right people, try to get subbing jobs so the school gets a good feeling for you, etc.
