Do you call/visit to be menachem avel? What if the shiva is already over (still within 30 days), is it weird to call then? We met one or two times but I'm not sure she knows who I am.

No, I would say no need to go or call. Totally unnecessary, unless you thought it was a particular case of a family without much support or close family or friends.

A nice gesture would be to make a small donation to a tzedaka in your community in the deceased's merit. But's it's not expected at all, only if you are looking for a way to give support.

I think you can probably reach out to your child's rebbe to ask how his wife is doing and to see if there is anything that she needs. You can offer things you are comfortable with, like bringing over a meal, or just ask him if she'd want to receive a phone call from you (as in, would it be better for her to have the support, or better for her to have her space).
