I always buy the Gap coats for my kids. They are a bit pricey but I wait for 40% or 50% offs.
They are super warm.

I don't think the Old Navy or H and M coats are warm. They are generally filled with polyester, vs down. I would spend the extra and get a warm down coat. Gap and Appamam should have.

I suppose it depends on how much time your child will spend outdoors, and in what temperatures. Old navy has, in the past, been sufficient for my children here and there. I once purchased an h&m maternity coat for myself and by December I needed to purchase a second coat.

These days I mostly buy lands end for the kids when they're on sale but they're older and spend a lot more time outdoors than when they were four.
