Not if you're British!
(Or learned English in the British way the way my husband did. Then it's Mon-day.) :

Sometimes the correct pronounciation can sound so incorrect, it is better to pronounce it incorrectly.
For instance, in college, my professor corrected people who said "To err is human" pronouncing "err" like "air" (99.9% of the time, I hear it this way)
He said, "No, to err is human" (pronouncing err like grrrr! without the "g")
So I said to someone I wanted to impressed "to err is human" (pronouncing it like the professor) and he looked at me like I was a moron..."To err (air) is human!"
This guy won a poetry award and I was trying to join his seminar. So I guess my using the "correct pronounciation" really wasn't worth it if 99.9% of the population haven't heard of the "correct" pronounciation.
And this Professor "corrected" a Pulitzer prize wining author on how to pronounce "Pulitzer" (It's Poohlitzer...not Pyulitzer!" Well, after the lunch, the author went back to saying "Pyulitzer" like everyone else...(and he used the name of the award in connection with his name at every opportunity!)

I never heard it pronounce as air, only how it's spelled.

dd wrote a story in 1st grade about going on a "feilld chrip"
(it's supposed to be field trip, I guess she spelled like she talked)
