Does anyone have any good challah recipes that can be made in the bread machine. I've tried one, but it comes out too sticky to braid. If anyone has any challah recipes especially whole wheat, or partial whole wheat, I'd appreciate it!

The one from the Laurel's kitchen bread book is the best--silky, light, and 100% whole wheat. Most libraries have it. I just cut the recipe in 1/2 to put in the bread machine. One note on it though is I find you have to add about 1 extra cup of flour total (if you 1/2 the recipe--closer to 2 cups if you don't) because they assume you are kneading by hand and adding flour as needed.

I played around with recipes until I found one that we love! It's light and fluffy and delicious (not overly sweet):
(make 1 lb)
3/4 c. water
5-6 tsp. honey
4 tsp. oil
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. bread flour
1 c. whole wheat flour
1 packet dry active yeast

Dough cycle. Shape. Let rise 1 hour. Egg wash. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.
