Looking for a vacation spot. Two hours or less from NYC driving. Not too expensive. No kids. Just my husband and me. Minyan.

Tannersville/Hunter is beautiful and you can get there in 2ish hours from Manhattan, but if NYC means Brooklyn it's at least 3.

The town certainly doesn't shut down. The kosher hotel (Melour) is open on weekends through Chanuka. The yeshiva (Rubanowitz) is there daily, unless it's an off Shabbos. And there's typically at least one minyan each Shabbos, if not more. Once ski season in Hunter is in full swing, Tannersville becomes even more popular.
