I just broke the lid of my crockpot and it's impossible to find one again, so I thought I'd start from scratch. Anyone have any recommendations for a good crockpot? Basically, we are 6 people, but sometimes with guests we could be up to 12. There are so many different ones out there- some have a warm setting and some do not; some are programmable. Any ideas?

Do NOT buy programmable. Most of them have 12 hour shut-offs. I found that out the hard way.

I wouldn't recommend Rival brand.
I have both Rival and Hamilton Beach (same as Proctor Silex), and the second one is better. Crock is smoother - better quality and easier to clean, and all my Rival ones BOIL the liquid at the edges on the warm setting! I.e. the warm setting on Rivals is too hot!

Thanks a lot for everyone's input. Keep them coming. I haven't bought one yet. Will go this week.

I'm happy with both of my rival crock pots. they're really not hard to wash, and they certainly don't boil on warm. I use them both frequently.
