My child for sure has auditory processing Issues.
What can I do help?
Hiw can I help them understand when I am speaking to them?
How can I get them to follow basic 2 step directions?

Please please help me

Start with one step directions if they aren't getting 2. Have them repeat the direction you gave back to you. Read simple books and ask lots of questions as you are reading the book to work on auditory processing.

Yes, all this. Other ideas. Let's imagine it's time for toothbrushing and PJ's.

- You can use song -- sing directions to a tune. For example, to the tune of Torah tziva lanu -- "Get your toothbrush ready, brush your teeth and then it's time to put pajamas on".

- You can use humor -- "time to go upstairs, brush your nose, and put on potatoes!"

- You can use visuals to augment -- picture sign with a toothbrush and PJ's, with a place to check the completed task, in a sheet protector, so a dry erase marker can tick off a task.

Has s/he been evaluated yet?
