I've had a few strange things happen to me over the past few things, and I finally asked Hashem what He wants from me! Then I realized I should check my mezuzahs, and DH said we haven't checked them since we moved in almost 8 years ago!
Posting this in case anyone else is off schedule, especially if you're going through something.

Wow that's a long time. Our minhag is to check tefillin and mezuzos every Elul.

I think the standard recommendation is twice in 7 years. Easy to forget about it when the mezuzahs were new to begin with. Thanks for the reminder, OP.
