Any recent experience buying new shower doors? Where, and did you find wide cost variation in the options? Are they somewhat adjustable, or do you need to have a space that's the exact size of the doors?

I remodeled recently and have frameless shower doors.
My shower doors were custom and were done by a glass/mirror supply who also supplied my mirrors.
If you have standard sizes I guess theoretically you could find ready made versions but to my knowledge the doors aren't adjustable and they have to be the size you need. You would have to contact a supplier and determine whether you can order "stock" doors or whether you need custom.
Frameless versus framed is aesthetic as frameless shower doors are more elegant - at least in my opinion and more modern.
There are also other variants in terms of configuration to consider.
FWIW, my glass has Showerguard which is a substance which is impregnated at the glass factory and is not a coating. It makes maintenance of glass very easy as I don't have to squeegee after every shower because the substance prevents stuff from sticking like hard water which can often build up if you don't wipe your shower down every time it is used.
