What exactly is it? how does it work? do I need wifi for it? Do I need to have a computer to utilize it?
Can I use it to personalize school supplies? backpacks? pencils? Or is it just a cutter for papers? I keep hearing people talking about the cricut but I'm #clueless

once you have the machine, do you constantly need to buy material and supplies for it? DO you need to maintain and clean it?

You need a computer for it as it uses a program called cricut design space. You can personalize a lot of stuff including school supplies, etc. You constantly need to buy supplies. Vinyl is most common- permanent and heat transfer for shirts/fabric.

It's a lot of fun if you are into crafting. I love it.

There not much maintenance and cleaning unless material gets stuck in the blade.

You also might need an online subscription to access all of its fonts which is a monthly fee.

Yes, it's a paper-cutting machine, but it does things you wouldn't be able to do yourself, such as logos, and it uses materials that can heat-transfer easily to different surfaces.

You don't need to pay for the cricut fonts if you don't want to. I don't.

Do you need internet or a subscription to access the design area? Or to make your own designs?

You need to sign into design space. I think you do need internet access in order to do updates but not on a daily basis. But I can be wrong.

The maker has a feature to engrave but it's not great. It doesn't embroider.

You NEED internet.
You are designing on the computer and then through WI-FI the design gets transferred to the machine. And the machine cuts out the design.
YES, you need to constantly buy supplies (expensive supplies).
My daughter has a silhouette (different company, also expensive, similar idea).
We have to get her a computer bec she needs to spend hours on the computer designing.

I have the maker. I personally would not spend on the maker 3.
I love my maker.

I have a Silhouette, I like the program much better. And you don't need internet whatsoever to design or transfer to the machine. For that alone it's way more worth it.

It goes from 1 to the other thru Bluetooth. Not WI-FI.

A totally different brand. I got it long before Cricut hit the Jewish market.
