At Bais Yaakov-Mr Stanley with his back brace and that really cool powder that clumped up vomit. I remember watching him use it several times. Did he have a glass eye?
The family with girl and boy who lived behind elementary. Why did they live there?

Power outages and fire alarms

Elem kids getting to tour the highschool for Exhibit, all in one building, HS was on the opposite side of the lobby.

Baila the buzzard

Mrs Miller the receptionist and Mrs Tendler the nurse. Both fun to talk to!

I believe Stanley did have a glass eye.
The family were the custodians. They moved in after Mr and Mr B retired. They didn't last long.

Remember when the preschool ran out of room and they stuck a random preschool class in the high school next to the davening room.

Trying to remember Fishel's pizza--it was definitely after the Pizza Shoppe. Was that before he took over the JCC cafeteria? Where did he sell pizza?

He made build your own pizza kits around 1980.

Interesting, was that because Mrs. Levy taught both 2nd and 6th grade? I had her in 6th grade but don't remember it being in the morning..

I didn't have her for 6th grade. But Rabbi Davis taught 2nd and 4th grade.

no uniform
short sleeves (close-ish to the elbow but didn't have to cover) until HS (7th grade)
bobby socks (also in HS)
make up, nail polish, long hair, dyed hair, huge earrings, np! Smile

(not that everyone dressed like that, most didn't, but there were no rules prohibiting it and no one said anything)

oh also slits as long as they started below the knee.

But there was a rule: no exotic hairdos.
Back in the day, slits weren't the battle they were going to die on. We were taught that wherever the slit ended, consider your skirt that long.

Yes! I think I'm way after your time but I had Mrs schlossberg. We had pizza on rish Chodesh in the elem lunch room, no Mac and cheese.

BYC had that delicious pink punch in giant pots. What was that? So good and cold. Serving it with pitchers and ladles.

When high school started in 7th grade!!!
Morah Neuberger was the 2nd grade teacher and Mrs Mintz (and her games and baked treats) in 6th grade. Mrs Oshry and Mrs Fishkind were icons in the high school. Mrs Janey and her snow dances. All are long retired now!

Jacks
Shapiros
Chaps
Kinder Kademy
Sno cones outside Tovs
When Mama Leah's was right past Slade and then right by Mt Wilson Lane
Leibes Delicatessen
Rambam

I remember when kosher bite opened -- we so excited to have a "kosher mc donalds".
...and when 7 mile opened!!! Now that was news! An all kosher supermarket bigger than the 2 aisle of Jacks!

I remember all of these. This is how old I am Smile

I remember when Tov Pizza opened.
Morah Chaya Rina was my kindergarten teacher and she got married that year.
When Mrs. Oshry was Mrs. Meszler - I had her the year before she got remarried and the year after.
Rabbi Diskind and Rabbi Steinberg were both my principals.
Singing the Eurovision songs at the Banquet in the blue gowns.

The ROCK in the back of the school!!!! I was just telling my kids about that one last week. How so many of us could squish onto the big rock and how we begged teachers to teach us outside by the rock.

OMG the rock!! I was thinking there was something special about going behind the school (aside from noticing the B's living there, which I always found interesting for some reason). It was the rock!! Yes!

The rock is still there.
The pool is still there.
The trailers are used for storage.
Each grade now has 7 parallel classes. And every teacher and principal and staff member knows each girls name. It’s amazing.
Who remembers sledding in snow down the front hill?
Playing lacrosse or soccer in the field and basketball and kickball on the basketball court?

Rabbi Taub ztl. Enough said.

I named my son after him, and I visit his Kever sometimes in KJ. I always say to HKHU by his Kever "whatever Koach you gave this man to not only get up every day and to inspire, but to do it all with a smile, I need some of that Koach please!"
